Step by step: find your perfect wardrobe

At IKEA, wardrobes come in a wide range of styles, sizes and configurations. Then, how do you chose the ideal for you?  Here you have three steps to help you reduce your options.

First steps to visualize and plan how to choose your ideal wardrobe.

Before making a decision, is important to carefully examine the space where you want to put your wardrobe or clothes storage system. Measure precisely the height, width and depth to determine which wardrobe will adjust to it. Take into consideration any structural characteristic, like gaps or tilted ceilings, as well as radiators, plugs and pipes.

Remember that...
If you want a wardrobe with hinged doors, make sure there is enough space to open them fully.

A wardrobe that fits your needs

The inside organization and the capacity of your wardrobe is a very personal decision. Only you know the quantity and the type of clothes you have and how you like to store them. If you mainly use t-shirts and jeans, your needs might be different from someone who uses a lot of dresses. To make the most out of the space of your new wardrobe, take into consideration disposing of the old clothes you no longer use.

A visual guide to organize your wardrobe

On the following picture you have an approximate reference of the necessary space for different types of clothes:

1. Storage boxes | 19cm

2. Coats| 100cm

3. Shirts and blouses | 80cm

4. Short dresses | 120cm

5. Very long clothes | 190cm

6. Shoe cabinet| 33cm

7. Ten white shirts | 25cm

8. Ten folded sweaters | 30cm

9. Hanged trousers | 60-70cm

Explore the types of wardrobes to see which one you like: closed, opened or both?

Choose a closed wardrobe with swing doors or sliding doors for an inside uniform look. The knobs and handles add a final touch. If you prefer your clothes on display and to make easier choosing them, opt for an opened wardrobe without doors. Do you have any preferences on color, finishing or material?
