Designer

Karin Mobring

Designer Karin Mobring

One of the most influential designers at IKEA. Born in 1927, raised in Östersund in Central Sweden and educated at the renowned Swedish furniture designer and craftsman Carl Malmsten's school. There she learned the craft, the importance of quality and, above all, comfort. When CROMI table was launched in 1971, it was presented as "a dainty table in style". Now it's back with new colors in the Nytillverkad collection under the name BAGGBODA. An icon, just like its creator.

It was love at first sight when Ingvar Kamprad saw a wooden chair in 1964 by a designer named Karin Mobring. With an eye for materials and a talent for designing comfortable furniture, she became the first female designer at IKEA. When CROMI coffee table was launched in our catalogue in 1971, the shape was described as "dainty and in style". In the Nytillverkad collection, it has been given the name BAGGBODA.
